OVERVIEW

In the ‘Lean’ factory, it is indispensable to adopt software tools to support production forecasting and planning activities that allow for improved anticipation/delays, reduction of inventory and purchasing costs, and optimisation of production and logistics resource allocation activities.

BUSINESS CASE

The order collection process of companies is basically a vertical process, but in an automated system we can identify some common points that must necessarily be implemented:

  • Manage the acquisition of customer requests in various formats
  • Decoding product codes that do not use company coding
  • Apply logistics rules and lead times
  • Feeding supplier planning systems with a pre-processing of the dispatch plan
  • Provide internal and external customers with visibility of shipment plan progress, final balances and advances/delays
  • Manage plant production calendars
  • Providing indicators of demand stability

SOLUTIONS AND BUSINESS VALUE

Bitia has developed for leading industrial groups a vertical solution that manages the entire process of collecting and processing production orders by interfacing the ERP system and the MES. We support our customers with the application maintenance of the solution and in the roll-outs of the solution, which is used by a pool of over 100 end users spread across 5 plants in the EMEA region. We receive and process requests from over 100 client companies in any type of format (XML, EDI, flat file) or by uploading requests from users to the Web application. The logistics rules applied are the result of sophisticated processing algorithms and the result of the dispatch plan can be analysed through extensive reporting for customer, central business and plant manager analysis.
